The cases are related to the alleged money laundering.
In the United States, a number of criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding possible abuses committed by people from the team of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. This is stated in the article by the journalist Tatyana Silina “Card Booth” in the newspaper “Mirror of the Week.” The journalist reports this with reference to information from insiders.
“According to our sources, criminal cases are opened in the United States; they investigate the facts of various abuses committed by people from the Poroshenko team. First of all, we are talking about the withdrawal of money and money laundering. The same sources indicate that some defendants in these cases have already signed a cooperation agreement with the investigation and are testifying,” the article states.
According to the author, “Sitnik’s sacrifice to Trump is considered as a deal by Bankovaya (President’s Administration), as a result of this deal the American President will prohibit the American system to ‘catch Poroshenko and Kº’after the elections”.
The journalist notes that the United States does not have a favorite in the Ukrainian elections, but they are seriously afraid of unrest due to the possible unconvincing legitimacy of the winner.
“Because Putin can again take advantage of the destabilization of the situation in Ukraine. And then the Americans will be forced to react to it – much tougher and more decisively than it is happening today,” the article claims.
The publication also writes, citing sources, that Washington is not going to immediately recall US ambassador Marie Yovanovitch from Kiev because of the scandal with the accusations by Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko.
“Moreover, the State Department persuades her to stay in Ukraine at least until the summer, although family circumstances involving her relatives require Marie Yovanovitch’s return to her homeland,” the article states.
“Therefore, Marie Yovanovic will remain. No need to guess what mood she is. But she is not only one indulged in harsh feelings. According to numerous sources, the State Department is not just angry, it is furious. The American system does not forgive such tricks. No one ever. “Yura is a done,” one of our acquaintance interviewees briefly and forcefully summarized,” the author noted.
In turn, the Presidential Administration refuted the message of the “Mirrors of the Week”, stating that the information on criminal cases against the “Poroshenko’s inner circle” initiated in the United States is not true.
Recall the day before, in an interview with American edition The Hill’s, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said that prosecutors would begin an investigation to find out whether the Ukrainian law-enforcement agencies deliberately “leaked” financial reports of Trump’s campaign leader Paul Manafort during the 2016 presidential campaign in the United States trying to influence an election in favor of Hillary Clinton.
Lutsenko also claimed that the US ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, gave him a list of people who had been asked not to persecute.
In addition, Lutsenko added that he had not received about four million dollars from the US embassy in Ukraine, which it was supposed to allocate to his department. In response, the US State Department called Lutsenko’s statement “frank fiction”.
The US Embassy said that the information on the “list of untouchables” is untrue and is intended to weaken the reputation of Ambassador Jovanovic. In addition, they noted at the embassy, the accusations against the US representatives are a manifestation of corruption, and voicing claims in the media “does not make these claims true.”
