
In the annexed Crimea, large-scale tactical exercises began involving an air assault and artillery regiment of the seventh Guards air assault division.
This was reported in the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports “RIA Novosti”.
“The exercise involved more than 1.5 thousand paratroopers, more than 300 units of military vehicles, as well as military transport aircraft, army aviation helicopters and large landing ships of the Black Sea Fleet,” the report states.
It is planned that during the exercises at several sites, personnel will be parachuted.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the news agency notes that one of the most spectacular episodes will be the landing of the Airborne Forces units from combat landing ships in order to capture and destroy control points of the conditional enemy and the camp for training illegal armed groups.
The paratroopers will work out the seizure of strategic frontiers and their maintenance to enable the main forces of the group to land. The main forces will be supported by artillery fire, front-line and army aircraft, UAV squadrons, and tank units.
