The leader of “Batkivshiny” says that he meets with the Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the sake of fair elections.
Presidential candidate and leader of “Batkivshchyna” Yulia Tymoshenko repeatedly visited the Ministry of Internal Affairs and met with its Head Arsen Avakov before the elections.
This is reported in the investigation of “Schemy”.
“On Saturday, March 16 of this year – on the day of the rally organized by the ‘National Corps’ and ‘National Squads’ – the ‘Schemy’ recorded that one Mercedes and Tymoshenko’s escort car drove into the Interior Ministry without any verification. While others at the entrance were checked with dogs,”- told reporters.
Tymoshenko was in the Interior Ministry building for about an hour. Journalists noticed how the vehicles of the leader of “Batkivshchyna” left the territory of the ministry. In the front seat, the film crew noticed Yulia Tymoshenko herself.
According to her comments to journalists, she explained that these meetings are “dedicated only to fair elections.”
“The current President thinks that he can buy elections – it will not work. He won’t buy the elections,” said Tymoshenko.
To clarify how her private conversations with Avakov would help fair elections, the candidate replied: “I submitted two applications addressed to Arsen Avakov about the commission of a crime. And every time I spoke on this subject in order to pass on these statements, pass the evidence. ”
At the same time journalists remind that the leader of the “Batkivshchyna” reported to the Ministry of Internal Affairs publicly in February.
Tymoshenko also refused to answer about the fate of Avakov in case of her victory.
“We are all superstitious, yes? We believe that all negotiations should be conducted only after the victory. And in general, it seems to me that in the right moral policy there are no agreements or backstage schemes. You just need to know that everyone is doing their job, and today I thank the Minister of the Interior,” answered Tymoshenko.
Avakov himself told reporters that, as minister, he “communicates with almost all candidates.”
“Yulia Tymoshenko as a presidential candidate in recent months has repeatedly visited the Interior Ministry. She filed complaints of violations, testified in cases, took part in investigative actions, applied for personal protection, and the like. Including meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs,”- said Avakov.
In turn, he considers the question of maintaining his position to go beyond the competence of the President.
“What names will be there – it is for the new coalition to decide. Regarding the statements of Tymoshenko, she only supported the position of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to ensure the legality of the elections and prevent fraud, and this is an absolutely adequate response of a candidate seeking to achieve an honest and legitimate victory,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs.
At the same time, journalists note that the internal contradictions between the SSU and the Prosecutor General’s Office with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police are increasingly visible.
“The reason for this is politics. Therefore, the aggravation before the elections is predictable. The Security Service and the Prosecutor General’s Office is the vertical of the Head of State, the creatures of President Petro Poroshenko that play on his side. On the other side are the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police. Poroshenko’s coalition partner Arsen Avakov seems to have been playing his own game, independent of the President. And in this election, he, as a politician, obviously made a bet not on him – but on other leaders of the presidential race,” claim the journalists.
