
More than 700 thousand hryvnias were confiscated from the men who paid the so-called volunteers.
The National Police reported that law enforcement officers are investigating the facts of a possible bribing of voters in favor of “candidate P” in Volhynia and Chernihiv region.
This is stated in the press service of the National Police.
It is noted that the police was informed on April 10 and opened several criminal proceedings.
“An anonymous report was received in the Chernihiv police department that a group of people in one of the party offices are handing out money in exchange for supporting candidate P in the second round of the presidential elections in Ukraine on April 22.” states the message.
It is reported that an investigative team and an investigator arrived at the scene to hand a subpoena to one of the staff of the election headquarters on the subject on bribing voters.
According to the police, the office was closed, but later people began to leave.
“Among them was the person to whom the subpoena was addressed. At the same time, one of the men who were in the party office, for unknown reasons, maliciously impeded the work of the police,” the office said, adding that later the office staff called the police themselves because of the activists who broke into the room and were broadcasting live.
On these facts, the police opened two criminal proceedings – under Art. 160 (Bribing a voter, referendum participant) and Art. 345 (Threat or violence against an employee of a law enforcement agency) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
It is noted that on the same day a message was received from a citizen in the Kivertsovskiy police department in the Volyn region about a possible violation of the electoral legislation in the village Olyka of Kivertsovskogo area.
“According to the applicant, in the House of Culture an unidentified person made the payment-calculation of funds to volunteers who campaigned in favor of the same candidate in the presidential elections in Ukraine during the first round,” the police said.
It is reported that during the initial investigative actions it was established that two residents of Kyiv may be involved in this crime.
“More than 700 thousand hryvnias were seized from these persons. Investigative actions are continuing, aimed at establishing all the witnesses and witnesses of the commission of a criminal offense and the adoption of a final procedural decision,” the police said.
According to this fact, a criminal action was instituted under Part 2 of Art. 160 (Proposal, promise or provision of an unlawful benefit to the voter or referendum participant …) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
