During the years of his presidency, Poroshenko never mentioned the law of impeachment, however on the eve of the elections he suddenly remembered about it.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko declared his readiness to discuss the draft law on the impeachment of the President and is in favor of adopting it in a “compromise” version of such law. This Poroshenko said in the program “Freedom of Speech” on the ICTV channel.
“I firmly believe that this law (ed. – on impeachment) is needed, as well as the law on temporary investigatory commissions. I am absolutely sure that a discussion on this should be held in the parliament and this law should be adopted as the responsibility of the president if he violates the Constitution and commits a crime, ” he said.
Poroshenko expressed his willingness to discuss the relevant bill and “accept (ed. in Parliament) an objective, balanced, compromise version.”
“After the adoption of the Constitution in 1996, for 23 years, we didn’t even come close to this law, and I’m the first president who is ready to lead a discussion on this issue,” he said.
Coincidence or an accident that Petro Poroshenko spoke about this law on the eve of the second round of elections, which will be held on April 21. The President uses all possible methods to attract voters, knowing that he has little chance of winning.
