
Committee of Voters notes that among all candidates there are only 4 women and that the average age of all registered candidates is 50 years.
The current presidential campaign has the record number of registered candidates. This was reported by Election Commission of Ukraine.
In the presidential race in 2019 will take part 44 candidates.
“In 2014, 21 candidates took part in the presidential election, which is half as many candidates as today. Until now, the historical record was held by the 2004 election, when 24 people were running for the highest post,” — said Alexey Koshel, chairman of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine.
At the same time, only 4 women are planning to take part in the presidential campaign of 2019 among 44 candidates.
“In general, among the 44 candidates, ten have previously participated in the presidential elections. As for the rest, this will be their first experience of participating in a campaign of this level,” — said Alexei Koshel, adding that the average age of candidates is 50 years.
It is need to be reminded that the Central Election Commission (CEC) registered 44 candidates for the presidency of Ukraine in the March 31 elections. As of February 8, 50 resolutions were passed, by which the commission denied candidates registration. The reasons for refusals are different, but the majority and these are 47 resolutions, concern non-payment of a cash pledge.
