It is probably for this reason that these two candidates occupy leading positions in the rankings since during the election campaign they were constantly engaged in bribing voters.
Interior Minister Arsen Avakov claimed that criminal cases about the bribing of voters before the presidential election were initiated for 4 candidates, most of all for Petro Poroshenko and Yulia Tymoshenko.
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that the minister said this during a meeting with representatives of the National Democratic Institute and the World Congress of Ukrainians.
“During the entire monitoring period, the (criminal cases) concern only 4 candidates for the presidency of Ukraine – Poroshenko, Tymoshenko, Taruta, and Hritsenko,” Avakov said, talking about criminal cases regarding the bribery of voters.
According to him, information about Anatoliy Hritsenko was not confirmed and the criminal cases were closed.
“As for Taruta, a fact was established in one of the districts in the city of Odessa. Now the investigation of the criminal proceedings continues and, most likely, there will be an accusation,” he added.
The minister said that Sergey Taruta himself came to the ministry and “asked to investigate this fact to the end”.
At the same time, Avakov said that the main cases of bribing voters relate to Poroshenko and Tymoshenko.
The ratio of criminal proceedings initiated according to reports of facts of bribing voters is as follows: about 60% concern candidate Poroshenko and 40% concern Tymoshenko,” the minister said.
Avakov said that the greatest risk is the system of “network” of the government candidate, hinting at the current president Poroshenko.
“It is, at the request of the applicants, distributed throughout the country. We were “overwhelmed” with a huge amount of evidence, in particular, photos and videos, both minor violations and significant ones. Most of the cases are already in the investigation and are likely to be completed after the elections,” he explained.
In general, according to Avakov, since the beginning of the election campaign, the police registered 4,294 appeals related to the elections, 299 criminal proceedings have been opened and 633 administrative protocols have been drawn up.
