The Minister of Internal Affair also stated that their ministry is working with Interpol and Europol to prevent external interference in the servers of the Central Election Commission.
Minister Arsen Avakov said that eight presidential candidates have appealed to the police for protection.
He said this at a coordination meeting of law enforcement agencies on Monday.
“We are working on the protection of candidates for the presidency of Ukraine. Now eight candidates have appealed to the National Police,” said Avakov.
Minister did not specify who exactly asked for protection.
At the same time, he noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs will not interfere in the electoral process to support one of the presidential candidates and every candidate, regardless of pro-government or oppositional status, will have equal rights.
The head of the department said that 1477 applications and reports related to illegal campaigning, bribing voters, property damage and hooligan actions have already been registered, which has resulted in 61 criminal proceedings and 306 administrative violation reports.
“In order to prevent such violations, meetings are held with the leaders of political organizations, their field cells, as well as with authorized representatives of candidates. Explains the inadmissibility and destabilization of the situation in the regions and the state as a whole,” he stressed.
Avakov also said that the law enforcement agencies received data on the deployment of a large-scale bribe system and if it “goes into the criminal phase,” the police will immediately respond.
