Foreign Minister Klimkin stated that Ukraine will insist on tougher sectoral or economic restrictions instead of imposing personal sanctions against Russian politicians.
Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said that Ukraine is preparing a new list of sanctions against Russia because of the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the simplified procedure for issuing passports of the Russian Federation to residents of the occupied Donbass. About this Klimkin said on the TV channel “Inter”.
“Now the diplomats of Ukraine are actively working on creating a new wave of political pressure on the Russian Federation, as well as preparing additional Ukrainian sanctions against Russia, sectoral and economic,” said Klimkin.
According to Klimkin, Ukraine will insist on imposing not personal sanctions, as was the case after the aggression in the Kerch Strait, but tougher sectorial or economic restrictions.
The Foreign Minister added that the target of these sanctions will be “people and companies that form the basis of the Kremlin regime.”
Previously on April 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree that simplifies the procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship for residents of the occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Applications for entry into the citizenship of the Russian Federation which is received from residents of occupied Ukrainian territories should be considered no more than three months from the date of submission.
