Boyko claims that this law will discriminate some Ukrainian citizens.
Opposition Platform “For Life” will appeal against the law on language to the Constitutional Court. The founder of the Opposition Platform “For Life”, MP Yuriy Boyko said this after voting for the bill No. 5670-d “On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language” in the second reading. This legislative initiative received 278 votes in favor. “Opposition platform – For life” voted against.
Yuriy Boyko stressed that in fact this is not a law on the protection of the Ukrainian language, but a ban on Russian. He discriminates a part of the citizens of Ukraine and therefore must be repealed.
“There is a list of articles that were violated when this bill was considered, and we will appeal to the Constitutional Court. We have already prepared a constitutional presentation. I am confident that the court should repeal this punitive law. This will allow avoiding discrimination of some of our citizens, some of Ukrainians,” the opposition politician emphasized.
People’s deputies from the “Opposition Platform – For Life” have already registered the draft Resolution No. 5670-d-P1 on repealing the decision of the Verkhovna Rada [ed. – Ukrainian Parliament] on adoption in the second reading and the language bill in general.
