According to the expert, the “Servant of the People” will not receive a majority in the parliamentary elections, so the struggle for power between the President and the Prime Minister will continue.
A publicist and journalist Vitaly Portnikov believes that the authority in Ukraine after the elections will resemble a chessboard since the winner of the presidential race will not receive a majority in the parliamentary elections.
“I quite realistically assess the possibility of Zelensky’s going to the second round of presidential elections and even his victory. Zelensky’s high rating is nothing phenomenal in terms of trends that occur in European politics. Many Europeans today believe that voting people outside the usual political format can make a difference,” said the analyst during a chat at “Glavred”.
Portnikov expressed an opinion that Zelensky would oppose the majority in parliament, which becomes more interesting for journalists than for citizens. Therefore, hopes for a prompt solution of problems are illusory in case of the victory of the current leader of the election race.
“The confrontation between the President and the Parliament, the struggle of the President and the Prime Minister, conflicts and scandals in the new government will be wonderful stories for everyone who believes that journalism develops only during conflicts. But, as a citizen, I would like to be bored,” Portnikov summed up.
