The Prosecutor General’s Office completed the investigation against former officials who gave orders to open fire at the protesters on the Maidan.
The Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko reported this on his personal page on Facebook.
“On the fifth anniversary of the bloody events, I can firmly say: the investigation has established not only 66 perpetrators who are suspected of the killings. The Prosecutor General’s Office this year completed the investigation on those who gave criminal orders leading to murders and casualties on the Maidan,” said Lutsenko.
According to the Prosecutor, the criminal case against former officials will be delivered to the court after the decision of the People’s Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada to extend the procedure of passing judgment on the persons in absentia.
“The commission of experts and involved specialists on the basis of 988 volumes of investigation’s materials concluded that the death and injury of participants of the peaceful protests on the Maidan is in a direct connection with the decisions and actions of ex-President Yanukovych, former head of the Security Service of Ukraine Yakimenko and his subordinates Totsky, Ganji, Potievsky , Shchegolev, ex-Minister of Internal Affairs Zakharchenko and his subordinates Shulyak, Konoplyanik, Mikolenko, Minister of Defense Lebedev, ex-Chief of the General Staff Zamany,” wrote Lutsenko.
During the round table on February 19 head of the special investigations department of the Prosecutor General’s Office Sergey Gorbatyuk stated that the Prosecutor General’s Office had reported 66 people suspected of being involved in the Maidan massacre.
