Member of the temporary investigative commission (TIC) in the case of embezzlement in “Ukroboronprom”, People’s Deputy Yuri Bereza states that he has repeatedly appealed to anti-corruption bodies, including NABU, on the facts of embezzlement in the “defense industry”. According to the People’s Deputy, the leaders of the anti-corruption bodies tried to “cover up” these cases.
A member of the temporary investigative commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to investigate information on the facts of theft in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and undermining the state’s defense in the period from 2004 to 2017, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Military Security and Defense People’s Deputy Yuri Bereza said that he had repeatedly turned to anti-corruption authorities with the request to investigate the facts of the embezzlement in the army over the entire period of Ukraine’s independence, but the leadership of the anti-corruption bodies responded only with “replies” and tried to cover up the investigation of these cases.
“Since 2015, I have repeatedly addressed as Chairman of the
Subcommittee on the Department of Defense to Mr. Sitnik on the subject of theft in the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the whole period of independence. I just want to say that even the newest bodies, except for the GDI, did not pay any attention to this. And they didn’t just pay any attention, they even tried, having heard it all, to cover up the matter. I speak frankly as it is. This concerns primarily Mr. Sytnik. ”
According to Yury Bereza, the reason for this is mutual responsibility, and whoever becomes the next president, the new issue No. 1 for all law enforcement agencies should be responsibility according to the principle “one law for all” for all heads of anti-corruption bodies: “I expect us to go in the same way as Poland, the Czech Republic and all the so-called Warsaw Pact states that entered the Western world. The first leaders of the anti-corruption bodies are imprisoned there, some of them have life sentences. And this awaits all the newest leaders, who for some reason thought that they could decide what is legal and illegal, without turning to the law, not paying attention to the Constitution and the laws of Ukraine.”
The People’s Deputy also said that the Parliament will demand an objective investigation concerning the theft in the army from the NABU and other anti-corruption bodies: “I guarantee this to you. We will achieve that, in spite of the cover-up, “protecting our ‘partners’, including with all the pseudo-leaders, we will deal according to the law.”
