Russia’s representatives at UN claim that Ukraine is demonstrating unwillingness to follow Minks treaty by pursuing a prosecution against Victor Medvechuk, who is Putin’s personal friend.
This position was vocalized by Vasily Nebenzya, the permanent representative of Russia in UN during the UNSC meeting initiated by Russia on the subject of Ukraine, 12 of February.
“The best illustration of this (ed. – reluctance to follow Minsk agreements) is the fact that on 5-th of February Prosecutor General of Ukraine stated that criminal prosecution was initiated against one of Ukrainian oppostional leaders, Medvedcuk, who had nominated himself as presedential candidate in the elections of 31-th of March,” – stated Nebeznya.
Ignoring that Putin’s friend effectively encouraged the partition of Ukraine, r. Nebeznya claimed that the reason for the prosecution was the fact that Medvedchuk is the only presidential candidate who is pleading to start negotiations with insurgents and to introduce special status to termporary occupied territories of Donbass region of Ukraine.
