Freedom Jazz band which took the second place in the National Selection at Eurovision refused to go to the contest instead of MARUV. Therefore, negotiations are now underway with the Kazka band.
Ukraine may not have any representative in the international song contest Eurovision-2019.
This was announced on the air of “Hromadske” TV channel by the member of the board of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (UA: PBC) Aleksandra Koltsova.
She said that the UA: PBC is negotiating with the Kazka band regarding their participation in Eurovision.
“But it seems to me that now, in this situation, this is a crisis, to which there is no definitive correct answer because society is divided,” said Koltsova.
According to her, UA: PBC and band that will represent Ukraine must present their performance number along with storyboard to the organizers of the Eurovision until March 8-10.
Answering the question “whether it will be Kazka band or nobody?” Kiltsova replied that “it could be nobody”.
The final of the national selection for Eurovision-2019 was held on February 23 in Kiev. It was decided that MARUV will represent Ukraine at a song contest in Israel.
At the same time, MARUV has scheduled solo concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
On February 25 MARUV stated that she was ready to cancel performances in Russia, but, according to her, the National Television Company makes “absurd” demands in the contract. Later it became known that MARUV will not represent Ukraine in the competition.
On February 26, the trio Freedom Jazz band which took the second place in the National Selection at Eurovision refused to go to the contest instead of MARUV. The musicians reported this on Facebook.
“Maybe some other time we will try ourselves again at national selection… But just now we received a call from UA: PBC and we want to inform that we are refusing to participate in Eurovision-2019,” the message states.
