Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman also stated the need to reform the electoral system before the parliamentary elections.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced that he will form a new political force to participate in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada [ed. – Ukrainian Parliament] which will be held in the autumn of 2019. He stated this on the program “Freedom of Speech” on the ICTV channel.
“It is clear that this will be a political force that will unite people with a good reputation, people who can not only speak but actually do things that will benefit the country. I do not want to be a bit player in the next political season, I want to be active, fight for ideas and implement them,” Groisman said.
“There are ideas and I understand how to implement them too. Therefore, the force of the like-minded people will be formed, with whom we will go to the polls and ask for a mandate of trust from people,” the Prime Minister added.
He also stated the need to change the electoral system before the parliamentary elections.
“If we do not change the electoral system in the country, then the new Parliament will be elected by using the old system and it will be our biggest disappointment in 2-3 months,” he added.
The next parliamentary elections in Ukraine are to be held on October 27. However, the media wrote that the new Ukrainian President may have a formal reason for the early dissolution of the Parliament. In this case, the elections will be premature and shall be held on another day.
