Poroshenko sued the TV channel “for systematic lies on a large scale.”
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko decided to sue the “1 + 1” TV-channel “for systematic lies on a large scale, for spreading the giant scale of misinformation, damaging the honor and dignity of the presidential candidate and the President.” This was reported in the parliament on Monday, March 25 by the Chairman of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, Artur Gerasimov.
“During the five years of his presidency, with rare exceptions, Petro Poroshenko essentially abstained from any claims to the media. However, in recent months, the information policy of one of the Ukrainian television channels has undergone significant changes, and makes you look at the situation differently and act differently than before,” the press service of the headquarters of presidential candidate Petro Poroshenko quoted.
We are talking about the channel “1 + 1”. According to Gerasimov, the owner of this media (Kolomoisky), “could not resist the temptation to rudely use this media resource to settle his personal accounts with the state,” and also “rudely trampled on the basic principles of free journalism and freedom of speech.”
According to Gerasimov, the beginning of the “information war” of Kolomoisky against the authorities is connected with the nationalization of PrivatBank.
“Obviously, Mr. Kolomoisky is guided by a sense of revenge to the state… For any price, without disregarding the dirtiest methods, he seeks to prevent the victory of Petro Poroshenko in the presidential election. And without stopping at anything, he supports Volodymyr Zelensky and Yulia Timoshenko. We sincerely sympathize with the “1 + 1” channel’s journalistic team. It has long sparkled brightly with reporter talents and is proud of the experts of a very high level. Not every journalist is involved in the implementation of Kolomoisky dirty orders. But of course, the editorial policy of the channel’s top management casts a shadow, sadly, on the whole team. ”
According to him, Petro Poroshenko decided to sue the channel.
Recently on “1 + 1” the “Ukrainian sensations-2019” material came out, in which journalists accused Poroshenko not only of involvement in high-profile corruption scandals but also put forward an assumption about his possible involvement in contract killings, in particular, the murder of his own brother.
