Starting May 1, the price of gas for the population of Ukraine is reduced.
The national joint-stock company “Naftogaz of Ukraine” reduces the cost of gas for the population by 300 hryvnias per 1,000 cubic meters. As a result, the price for household consumers will be about 8.25 hryvnia per cubic meter.
The Cabinet of Ministers and the National Joint-Stock Company “Naftogaz of Ukraine” agreed to reduce the regulated price of gas for the population and thermal generation in May of the current year to 8.247 thousand UAH per thousand cubic meters (the previous price was 8.55 thousand UAH per thousand cubic meters). The price drop occurred because of the decline in gas prices in the European market.
The press service of Naftogaz stated that together with government representatives it had developed a new mechanism for determining the regulated price. If the market price of gas for industry exceeds a certain government level, the price for the population will not be raised.
The report also says that changes to the existing gas sale agreements between Naftogaz and all counterparties will tentatively be made during May of this year.
