According to the Minister, the EU will not cancel visa-free despite the fact that the article on illicit enrichment was one of the main requirements of the European Union for its provision.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin commented on the abolition of the article on illicit enrichment by the Constitutional Court on his Facebook page.
“I’m sure the EU will not punish millions of Ukrainian citizens for this decision. Ultimately it is Ukrainians who suffer from corruption and corruption schemes,” he wrote.
According to Klimkin, Ukraine needs to find a “reinforced concrete” legal solution that will resolve all issues once and for all.
“Otherwise, there is a chance to have a serious crisis of trust in relations with our friends and partners. At stake is not just a visa-free regime, but the support of Ukraine. We have no right to let down those who believe in us, and most importantly – ourselves,” he wrote.
