According to the twin singers, Ukraine has lost the Crimea.
Finalists of the National Selection of Eurovision-2019, twin sisters Anna and Maria Opanasyuk (ANNA MARIA duet) could not tell who should own the Crimea.
The girls talked about this on the air of the program “PRIME: Scripin” on the ATR TV channel.
The girls refused to directly answer the question “Who should own the Crimea?” by saying that “Crimea is ours, our homeland”.
“In fact, the Crimea remains the Crimea. The same sea, the same mountains, the same air… I think Ukraine lost Crimea,” the singers replied but didn’t specify how it happened
“Ukraine has lost the Crimea… When we go to the Crimea, we pass two borders. That says it all,” said one of the sisters.
The girls also refused to answer the question of whether the occupation of the Crimea, which is part of Ukraine, took place.
“We simply will not answer this question, because we are not politicians, we are not members of the Presidential Secretariat to answer such difficult political questions,” the singer said.
Twins also refused to discuss their parents who currently reside in the occupied Crimea.
It is worth noting that the mother of Anna and Maria Opanasyuk – Larisa Nikolaevna Opanasyuk – works in the occupational department as “deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea” and was awarded the medal “For the return of the Crimea” by the Russian Ministry of Defense. The girls’ father worked as a judge in the occupied Crimea and resigned only two years ago.
