People’s Deputies from the “Opposition Block” party Nestor Shufrych, Vadim Rabinovich and Vasily Nimchenko demand the General Prosecutor’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation to investigate the “preparation of the assault” on Viktor Medvedchuk, the personal friend of Russian President.
Deputy’s appeals to the Director of State Bureau of Investigations, Roman Truba, and Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko were announced by the press service of the political party “Opposition platform — For Life”.
People’s Deputies claim that they rely on the information concerning the possible assassination attempt published by ex-the President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych during his press conference on February 6, 2019.
In particular, according to Yanukovych, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko has instructed the Ukrainian security services to gather information about Viktor Medvedchuk, the leader of the public movement “Ukrainian Choice — People’s Right”.
Allegedly the Security Service of Ukraine received the instructions “to organize an assault on Medvedchuk by using perpetrators from “Right Sector” for the purpose of his intimidation or physical elimination depending on the pre-election situation in Ukraine”.
“The above information concerning the preparation of the assault on Medvedchuk considering the background of the systematic exercises of offenses against him, including the destruction of property by arson, the attack on the office of public organization that he heads, make it possible to assert the obvious connection of the circumstances invoked with the possible preparation of new crime against Medvedchuk — his assassination”, — deputies state in their appeal to Prosecutor General.
People’s deputies are demanding to consider their appeal as a report on the commission of a crime under the Criminal Code of Ukraine and start the pre-trial investigation.
It should be reminded, that the Prosecutor General’s Office on February 5 opened criminal proceedings on possible high treason and separatism of Viktor Medvedchuk. The prosecution was initiated following the appeal of Andrei Teteruk, Deputy of “People’s Front” party.
At the first congress of the “Opposition platform — For Life”, Viktor Medvedchuk stated the need to create the “Autonomous region of Donbass” with this status enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine.
At the end of July 2018, Medvedchuk announced his decision to join the “For Life” party of Vadim Rabinovich and take the lead in “restoring peace” with Russia.
