The adoption of a language law obliges the Ukrainian Parliament to adopt a law that will protect the languages of national minorities in Ukraine and Russian will be counted among such.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Committee on Culture and Spirituality Nikolai Knyazhitsky.
According to the People’s Deputy, Parliament must consider this law in the next six months.
“The law that regulates the protection of languages of national minorities will be introduced within 6 months,” said Knyazhytskyi.
He also noted that the final voted version of the “language law” will be made public on the Verkhovna Rada [ed. – Ukrainian Parliament] website after the document is signed by the Chairman of the Parliament, Andriy Parubiy.
Recall, on April 25, the Verkhovna Rada adopted, in general, the draft law No. 5670-d “On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language”.
