ВВС apologized because of their article in which it was reported that the Poroshenko’s party paid money to arrange his meeting with Donald Trump.
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) apologized and agreed to pay compensation to President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko for their material that states that Poroshenko’s party paid for his meeting with US President Donald Trump.
It is reported by BBC news of Ukraine.
“The apology concerns incorrect material, which stated this,“ – said in a statement.
It is also noted that this information was voiced in the BBC television program.
The publication does not report about the sum of compensation.
On February 8, PressGazette reported that a court in London during the preliminary hearing recognized the BBC material as one-sided because it is stated that the mediators of the Ukrainian president, Petro Poroshenko, paid at least $ 400,000 for his first meeting with his American counterpart Donald Trump.
In 2018, President Petro Poroshenko filed a lawsuit against the BBC for defamation because of this material.
The lawsuit states that the BBC refused to publish a refutation or apology, and this story remains available on the BBC website.
The BBC material stated that Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen received a secret payment of 400 or 600 thousand dollars from Poroshenko’s intermediaries for organizing the first meeting between him and Donald Trump in June 2017.
The administration of Poroshenko called the publication of the BBC a frank lie and demanded a denial of this information.
