This is a new record high tariff for the entire Ukrainian history.
In February, Ukraine bought electricity from coal-fired power plants at a price that is 50% more expensive than the one at which Europe bought electricity from the Rinat Akhmetov company.
This is reported by “Nashi groshy”.
According to “Energorynok”, in February 2019, the average selling price of electricity in the Wholesale Market was 2167 UAH / MW * h in cumulative total (EUR 0.72 per kW * h). Thus, the heat generation tariff increased by 16% compared with January.
This is a new record high TPP tariff for the entire Ukrainian history.
“This is a new record high tariff of thermal power plants for the entire Ukrainian history,” the publication emphasized.
In turn, at the Hungarian Energy Exchange, electricity in February was worth 49.56 euros, or about 1530 UAH / MW * h.
“That is, the price of the Ukrainian energy market is 45% higher than the price of the Hungarian market,” the report stresses.
Recall that the largest supplier of “coal” electricity in Ukraine is the DTEK Rinat Akhmetov group.
In December 2017, the Antimonopoly Committee issued a recommendation to the Ministry of Energy and NKREKP to open the market for imports. However, these authorities did not grant permission to import cheap electricity from Europe.
Electricity produced by the Burshtyn and Dobrotvorskaya thermal power plants is exported. They are located in the Burshtyn energy “island”, which is disconnected from the power system of Ukraine and synchronized with the European system. These TPPs initially sell their electric power to “Energy Market”, and then cheaply buy it back at the price of the wholesale market for sale abroad.
Note that DTEK managed to almost completely monopolize the export of electricity because it is the only company that controls both coal mines and coal-fired power plants from which electricity is exported.
