Among 60 released prisoners 4 people, including a woman, spend more than 9 years in prisoners situated in territories controlled by insurgents.
Insurgents transferred to the territory controlled by the Government of Ukraine 60 convicted prisoners from certain regions of the temporarily occupied territory of the Luhansk region.
This was reported on March 20 on Facebook by the Ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova.
Prisoners will continue to serve their sentences on the territory controlled by Ukraine.
According to Lyudmila Denisova, over the past three months, 135 prisoners have been relocated to Ukraine, 22 of whom have already been released due to the termination of the sentence.
“4 people, including a woman, among the 60 displaced people today – were more than 9 years in penitentiary institutions in the temporarily occupied territory of the Luhansk region without a court decision. Meaning their guilt was not proven in a legal manner,” – wrote the Ombudsman.
Denisova added that the next visit to the Luhansk region was planned for the end of April.
Another 60 prisoners are planned to be transferred to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.
The Ombudsman also discussed the possibility of transferring convicts to Ukraine registered in the territory not controlled by the Ukrainian government or from the occupied Crimea.
Earlier we reported that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak to speed up negotiations on the purchase of a new batch of Javelin anti-tank missile systems from the US.
